Visited Eccy today and I must say it was a pleasant suprise, the vis was pretty good, the facilities are good, staff are friendly and the setting is relly nice. I have read a lot of negative things about Eccy and the vis, all I can say is that this was my 3rd visit in around 12 month and it was a marked improvement. Money is being spent on improvements, there is plenty to see underwater, so give it a go and make your own mind up.

Visited in chillly February and enjoyed a great day's diving. Viz was fine and the work that's been done has improved it a lot. It was Joe's first time here and his words after the first dive summed it up for both of us: "I really enjoyed that!" Keep up the good work!

ECCY DELPH HE WHO DARES THE AMOUNT OF TIMES I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT.
WENT ON SAT 07/06/08 TO SEE THIS MUD BATH AS I HAVE HEARD IT CALLED.
ALL I CAN SAY IF YOU HAVE NOT BEEN FOR 2 OR 3 YEARS GO AND TRY IT FIRST TIME FOR ME AND 5 STUDENTS AND 2 D/M'S COULDT BELIVE WHAT I HAD BEEN TOLD.
SAVED ON THE ENRTYS, REG, AND FUEL AROUND 100 VIS WAS 15 TO 20 MTRES SURFACE, 6 MTRES DEEP 8 MTRES VIS MINI. WHEN WE LEFT DOWN TO 4 MTRES. STAFF ARE VERY FRIENDLY WE HAD A SLIGHT PROBLEM WITH A REG BARRY IN THE SHOP SORTED IT WE OFFERD TO PAY HE SAID PUT SOMTHING IN THE LIFE BOAT BOX CHEERS AGAIN FOR THAT. PROVES THAT DONT BELIVE WHAT YOU HEAR.
THEY ARE STARTING DOING GOLF AND CLAY PIGEON SHOOTING IF THEY PUT AS MUCH EFFORT IT THAT AS THE DIVE CENTRE WE COULD NOT HAVE A CENTRE THERE IN THE FUTURE.
SO IF THE RESON YOU DONT GO IS BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU HEARD JUST TRY IT,
THE BLOKE THAT RUNS IT HAS HIS OWN SENSE OF HUMOUR BUT WE HARDLY SHAW HIM EVERY CLOUD AS THEY SAY.
BUT WHEN YOU READ AND HEAR THINGS I THINK I WOULD BE A BIT !!!!!! OFF.

Went there yesterday, water was like crystal, you could see the bottom 10 metres clearly from the surface.
Loads of fish life especially in the shallows.
Nice to have a fill station right by the edge too, saves the back and shoulder!
Well worth the tenner entry.
Ohh and the gold balls are a bonus ;-P

I used to dive here a really long time ago, in fact I think it was my first open water dive way back in 1973. Not dived for over 20 years now. I used to be a member of Eccleston BSAC who met at Chorley Baths and the White Crow afterwards. Just wish the Delph had been this good then, but what a fantasic place it is now. Congratulations to those that had the vision and heart to do this.

I originally came across The Delph to do a 'try dive' with no intentions of going forward with any qualifications. I expected a 'clinical step by step' experience but The Delph is special, I'm now AOW going for Rescue (all done with The Delph) & I've been to numerous dive centres. The Delph is the only place that has the 'personal, family' feeling. I really can't praise the Delph as much (the bacon & egg barmcake (or COB as it's rightly known from a Nottingham lad)is one of the best in the country!!

Re: 'Kev' Why don't you take your own advice and stay away if it's not the place for you? Leave it for the many of us who appreciate the hard work, time and money the owner has spent developing the Delph into what is a fantastic little site. The owner has gone out of his way to help me my buddies on many occasions and the guys in the shop and cafe are always helpful and friendly. That doesn't happen up the M6. Keep up the good work guys.

Dear all why oh why do some of you divers feel that you have to air your views on these message boards. Let's be honest if The Delph is that bad don't bother going again. You don't have to tell the whole world about it, are you trying to impress or just ruin it for every body else. from where i cum from if you don't like it then keep away. And let everybody else enjoy it. To be honest carn't honestly wait untill my next visit to The Delph ( Happy Diving and stay safe) All the best Danny the Delph lover xx

I've heard a fair bit of bad Rep regarding Delph Dive Centre, ranging from bad viz to poor location, none of which is correct. It was the first time I dived there yesterday and I was very impressed. The Dive location itself is excellent, very well laid out with various entry and exit points, features in the water are what can be seen on the attractions list on the site, and they are quite good, and for those who have little or no faith in a compass, there are rope-ways between the attractions, which obviously you don't have to follow if you don't want to. So, as far as the the quarry and the location is concerned, it's great, my only complaint is that I was expected to pay £5 for a 300bar 12 litre air fill. Although the website states that it fills to 300bar, it's an expensive fill to say the least. As long as you're on a 232bar cylinder though, fill your boots, I'll sure be going back again in the future.

One of the great things about The Delph is the fact the owners are continually upgrading the facilities. Yes the outside toilets aren't the best, but they're only there for a quick widdle/whatever when you're in your wet gear. It looks like they're next for the upgrade, and in the mean time better facilities are available in the Cafe... Keep up the good work guys.
