Treasures below
ST Catharine’s hospice has kindly donated items from one of its charity shops to the delph dive centre. Items include general brick-a-brack which now has a permanent home at the bottom of the delph quarry. So come and dive today and see what treasures lie below.
Things that have been happening in May
We have two BASC open water training course going on P-I-E (practical instructor exam) and O-W-I-C (open water instructor course). Both these are done in the open water.
We also have the north of England Olympic triathlon swimmers training.
Watching these swimmers is amazing, there speed and power in the water is fantastic.
Everybody is more than welcome to come down to watch the swimmers and see the fish which are becoming very popular with the young and old alike.
Indoor Heated Pool
Newly built, but still undergoing work, the indoor heated swimming pool is one of the latest additions at the delph. Now open for courses, instructors and students, or to test equipment in a safe environment. The depth of the pool is 2 meters, with plenty of room around the pool, for briefing your students, and kitting up. There are hand rails with steps leading down to the deeper parts of the pool. The pool is available, by the hour, half a day or full day. Please contact us for further details.
Reed Beds
Back in April 2006 we introduced a number of surface floating reed beds to try and reduce the amount of algae in the quarry. We are pleased to announce that it was a great success for the summer of 2006 and the reed beds started to act as a natural filtration system. For 2007 we are expecting even better results.
Night Diving
It’s that time of year again, and we are now open until 9pm on Wednesday for night dives. Don’t forget your torch..
